How to add reviews to Shopify and connect Instagram & Facebook
Customer reviews can help shoppers decide whether to buy from your store. Instagram and Facebook can also bring visitors directly to your products.
Shopify lets you handle all of this from your admin area. Here’s how to set it up.
How to add reviews to Shopify
Shopify doesn’t include a built-in product review system, so you’ll need a review app from the Shopify App Store.
Go to Apps → Shopify App Store and search for a product review app.
Some apps let you:
- Add star ratings to product pages
- Display written reviews
- Import reviews
- Send customers review requests
- Show review widgets on your store
Pick an app that fits your store, install it, and follow its setup instructions.
Add the review section to your product page
After installing the app, open:
Online Store → Themes → Customize
Open a product page in the theme editor and look for the option to add an app block.
Select your review app and place the review section where customers can see it easily.
Then save the theme.
It’s a good idea to place reviews below the product information or near the product description. Customers can see the rating while they’re deciding whether to buy.
How to connect Shopify to Instagram
You can connect your Shopify store to Instagram through Shopify’s Facebook & Instagram sales channel.
In Shopify admin, go to:
Settings → Sales channels
Add Facebook & Instagram if you haven’t already installed it.
Connect your Facebook account and select the Meta business account connected to your Instagram account.
You’ll need an Instagram professional account for shopping-related features.
Once the accounts are connected, you can set up your product catalog and use eligible Shopify products with Instagram.
Your product information needs to meet Meta’s requirements before products can appear in Instagram shopping features.
How to connect Shopify to Facebook
Facebook and Instagram use Meta’s commerce tools, so you can connect both through the same Shopify sales channel.
In Shopify, go to:
Settings → Sales channels → Facebook & Instagram
Connect your Facebook account.
Then select the Facebook Page and Meta business account you want to use.
Shopify can sync your products with your Meta catalog. You can then use that catalog for Facebook and Instagram shopping features and Meta ads.
If you already run Facebook ads, check that you’re using the correct Meta Business Portfolio, ad account, Pixel, and product catalog. Connecting the wrong business account is an annoyingly easy mistake to make.

Once everything is connected, check your products inside Meta Commerce Manager.
Make sure product names, prices, images, availability, and links are correct.
Then test a product link from Facebook or Instagram and make sure it takes customers to the correct Shopify product page.
