How to create contact, About Us & privacy policy pages on Shopify
A Shopify store needs a few basic pages before you start sending customers to it.
Your Contact, About Us, and Privacy Policy pages give customers the information they need and help make your store look like a real business.
How to add a contact page to Shopify
Go to:
Shopify admin → Online Store → Pages → Add page
Enter Contact Us as the title.
You can add a short message such as:
Have a question about an order or product? Send us a message and we’ll get back to you.
Shopify themes usually include a contact form template. To use it, open the page template selector and choose contact or Contact.
Save the page.
Add the contact page to your menu
Creating the page doesn’t automatically put it in your store’s navigation.
Go to:
Content → Menus
Open your main menu and click Add menu item.
Enter Contact Us, select your contact page as the link, and save the menu.
Now visitors can find it from your store’s main navigation.
How to create an About Us page on Shopify
Your About Us page tells customers who runs the store and what you sell.
Go to:
Shopify admin → Online Store → Pages → Add page
Set the title to About Us.
Write a few short paragraphs about your business.
For example:
We started Assam Tea House in 2024 after spending years buying tea directly from small tea gardens in Assam. Our store focuses on fresh Assam tea that you can order online and have delivered to your door.
Keep it specific. Tell people where the business started, what you sell, and why you started it.
You can also add a photo of your team, workshop, store, or products.
Then add the About Us page to your main menu through Content → Menus.
How to create a privacy policy on Shopify
Your privacy policy explains how your store collects, uses, and handles customer information.
Shopify can generate a privacy policy template for your store.
Go to:
Shopify admin → Settings → Policies
Find the Privacy policy section.
You can create your own policy or use Shopify’s available template. Read through it carefully and add information that applies to your business.
Your policy should match what your store actually does. For example, if you use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, email marketing, or third-party payment services, your privacy information should account for those services.
Save the policy when you’re finished.
Add your privacy policy to your store
Your privacy policy is usually placed in the footer.
Go to:
Online Store → Themes → Customize
Open your footer and add a menu containing your policy links.
You can include:
Privacy Policy
Terms of Service
Refund Policy
Shipping Policy
Contact Us
This gives customers an easy place to find your store policies.
Check your pages before launching
Open your Shopify store in an incognito window and click through the pages yourself.
Check the contact form, menu links, privacy policy, and mobile layout. A missing link is easy to fix when you catch it before customers do.
